What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant. As a result of being produced by a plant, these compounds are also known phytocannabinoids. It was originally thought that cannabinoids were only produced by cannabis, but research suggests that other plants like broccoli and cocoa either contain the same internal cannabinoids as our body, or have the ability to influence our endocannabinoid system by promoting increased levels of cannabinoids in our bodies.

While CBC definitely has singular benefits, researchers also think that it seems to synergistically work with other cannabinoids, a term known as the entourage effect. This effect of THC and CBD working together is well-known, but whether other cannabinoids have entourage effects is not well understood.

CBD brings effects to the body and mind. CBD has been touted for a wide variety of health issues, but the strongest scientific evidence is for its effectiveness in treating some of the cruelest childhood epilepsy syndromes, such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), which typically don’t respond to anti-seizure medications.
